History of the diffrent SOCOM weapons
All of the SOCOM weapons are all based on the real world weapons. All the guns you are using inside the game are real
weapons in the world today.
The M4A1, FN90, AK47, Uzi 9MM and more.
Even the grenades are real as well. See very few of us know that the game creators actualy modeled not only real life
seals and other special opertions people but they took all the technical data for each weapon and included it in the game.
Now over time they have tweeked the game weapons a bit to make it more fair as in the real workd if you run into a FN90 (F90)
in close quarters you are fucked! Also you will not see an F90 shooting across a city killing someone either, so the game
is not prefect but to date the closet thing I have ever seen.

My Background
Just so you all know this is ALL Fucked Up talking to you about this stuff and I take feed back on any of these weapons
you know about. I am a Veteran and was Special OPs US Navy and Weapons Control Systems / technical specialist was my
job/Rate.
I have some very good back ground myself. Also Smokey and I grew up shooting together as we are Brothers so there
is allot of knowledge here to pull from along with some of the other players who have contributed.

F90
Many gun lovers may have heard about this brilliant SMG. A real compact weapon that is designed for support personnel
and special operators. Real steel P90 has a compact size (only 19.7 inches long (50cm)) and weighs only 2.5 pounds unloaded.
Don’t think that baby lion doesn’t bite. P90 fires a 5.7x28mm rifle cartridge that has an impressive range
and enough power to penetrate vests and armors. P90 also packs another innovative design. Its unique magazine
has the cartridge stored in a “funny” way. The cartridge is stored perpendicular to the muzzle. When
the round is to be loaded, the magazine mechanism will turn the cartridge 90 degrees for loading. So the weapon is extremely
compact with the magazine stored just over the barrel.

XM8
Caliber: 5.56x45 mm NATO Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt Overall length: 838 mm in basic
configuration, butt extended Barrel length: 318 mm in basic configuration; also 229 mm in Compact and 508 mm in
Sharpshooter and SAW versions Weight: 2.659 kg empty in basic configuration Rate of fire: ~ 750 rounds
per minute Magazine capacity: 30 rounds (STANAG) or 100-rounds double drum in Automatic Rifle/SAW role
The Army worked with the small arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch (H&K) to develop the system to its requirements in the aftermath of the OICW contract, for which H&K had been a subcontractor to ATK. Although there were high hopes that the XM8 would become the Army's new standard infantry rifle, the project was
put on hold in mid 2005, and was formally cancelled on October 31, 2005.

This is the third most popular millitary rifle in the world. Renowned for its accuracy relaibility and its pure combat
freindly handlining. Highly desired weapon and only in third place behind the M16 and AK47.

STG77

standard 508 mm barrel) Barrel length: 508 mm (also 350 mm SMG, 407 mm Carbine or 621 mm LMG heavy barrel) Weight:

rounds per minute Effective range of fire: 450-500 meters with standard assault rifle barrel
In general, the AUG is known for good ergonomics, decent accuracy and a good reliability.
Technical description. The Steyr AUG is a gas operated, magazine fed, selective fire rifle of bullpup layout.
AUG is built around the aluminium casting receiver, with steel reinforcement inserts. One such insert is used to provide
the locking to the removable barrels and the rotating bolt, thus relieving the receiver from most of the firing stress. Other
inserts are used as a bearings for the bolt carrier guide rods.

M14
Caliber: 7.62x51 mm NATO (.308 Winchester) Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt Length:
1120 mm Barrel Length: 559 mm Weight loaded: 5,1 kg (6.6 kg M14A1) Magazine: 20 rounds, detachable
box Rate of fire: 700 -750 rounds per minute
In general, the M14 was an outdated design at the moment of its adoption. It had the accuracy and range of an "old time"
military rifles, but was too long, heavy and lacked the selective fire firepower of a true assault rifle, required in the
modern combat. Nevertheless, it was a reliable and powerful weapon, often favored by users for high lethality, long range
and good penetration.
Reality is that this weapon in it's modern form is still used today by SOCOM and is a capable sniper weapon as well as
a close quarters weapon for fire power and rate of fire. While it is heavy and there are better alternitives out there for
each individual situation, I still feel this is the true all around best weapon to have if you have to go into a real theater
of combat. The game has greatly toned down the capabilities of this weapon else it is just unfair, as we all know from SOCOM
2.
By the way the real M14 SOCOM the guy is sitting on the roof top with has colpasable butt stock for grip and the weight
has been greatly reduced through poymers just like the M4A1 and a 20 & 30 round clips is standard issue. Also
you can get hi capacity magazines for the weapon. This is a true killer, hope they never take it out of the game.
Think about it, at 700-750 rounds a min!
The M14 is laying down some serious fire power, it fires 12 shots in 1 second of 308 Caliber (if you get hit in a leg
or arm you are probably going to die)!
